Kerala and Kanyakumari

Kerala is one of the most beautiful states in the south-west region of India.  We flew into Cochin from Delhi- a short 3 hours flight in the winter of 2008. Drove from Cochin to Allepey and explored the backwaters of Kerala.
After spending the night in a vintage house hotel in royal style we continued our journey from backwaters to the beautiful hills of Munnar. Stayed at a hotel located in beautiful tea gardens. Enjoyed trek at the Tea gardens next morning and spent whole day mesmerized with the beautiful Munnar.
Before heading to our next place we made sure not to miss the a few Kerala specials.... great food on banana leaf, backwater ferry ride, fresh coconut water and guess what..? an elephant ride.. yeah

We continued our journey to the southernmost tip of India: Kanyakumari. It is the point of convergence of three seas - Lakshadweep sea, Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. It is famous for tourism and pilgrimage. The name of this place is based on the temple of Goddess Bhagwati. After praying at the temple, we visited Swami Vivekananda memorial located on two rocks about 500 feet from the shore into the sea. This memorial has a meditation hall for visitors. We admired the serenity of the place in-midst of the striking waves of three seas before heading back home. It was a short but one of the most memorable trips in India.
